Original Medicare Coverage - Part A
For millions of Americans, Medicare has been a way to let them receive quality health care while still making it affordable. However, for people just becoming eligible for Medicare, there are many components of it that can be understood very well by using the Financial Assistant found on Medicare.gov.
Part A, relating to hospital Insurance was specifically designed to cover hospital expenses some of which include covers the following inpatient hospital procedures:
- Hospital stay beforehand or at least three days and three nights (not including discharge date).
- Semiprivate rooms
- Meals
- Required tests
- Doctor’s fees
- Part A will also cover brief stays in a skilled nursing home for convalescence, provided that certain criteria are met
